“Four days will quickly steep themselves in nights;
Four nights will quickly dream away the time”
Hippolyta, scene i
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, William Shakespeare
CONvergence 2014: A Midsummer Night’s Dream celebrates that place where fantasy and reality meet. It is where you realize that just around the corner is a world stranger and more fantastic than you thought. It is where our world is a world of fairy folk and magic.
You’ll see a War for the Oaks, and discover that being a wizard is practically part of the job requirements for being a private investigator. You have a neighbor Totoro, and fight ghosts shaped like giant marshmallow men. That new girl in your class may be a Vampire Slayer, and if you look hard enough, you might discover a strange new shopping area behind that pub for wands and other magical items.
Snow White lives just down the block, or perhaps she lives upstate somewhere. Gargoyles have woken up after a thousand years asleep, and the vampires and werewolves are struggling to not be discovered. Be careful where you say, or the Goblin King may take you away.
For one weekend a year, the barrier between our mundane world and the world of magic and fantasy is especially thin, and villages appear out of nowhere.
The convention kicks off on July 3rd, 2014 at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Bloomington, MN.
