CONvergence 2025: That’s How We Roll starts on Thursday in downtown Minneapolis, MN and those of us without a Transporter or a Warp Drive may need to rely on overland travel.
Many CONvergence attendees will be using Metro Transit to get to the con. If you are planning on taking a bus or a train, head over to the Bus and Train page.
Of course, some people will be driving to the convention and parking Downtown.
If you want to avoid flying right through a star or bouncing too close to a supernova, here is a list of current and upcoming road construction projects in the Twin Cities Metro area that may impede, obstruct, or otherwise complicate your travel to and from CONvergence.
MNDOT Closures and Detours
Please refer to the MNDOT website for additional updates or closures or use the 511 app to plan your travel.
- I-94 eastbound: Exit ramp closed
At Exit 231B ramp to Hennepin Ave / Lyndale Ave. The exit ramp is closed because of construction work. Until November 7, 2025 at about 5:00PM CDT. - MN 55 westbound: Roadway reduced to one lane
Between East 26th Street and I-94 (Minneapolis). The roadway is reduced to one lane. Look out for construction work. Until August 20, 2025 at about 5:00AM CDT.
- Minnetonka Blvd in both directions: Road closed
Between MN-100 and MN-7 in Saint Louis Park. The road is closed. Road construction work is in progress. A detour is in operation. Please follow the Minnesota DOT-recommended detour around the closure. See map for detour(s). Until October 31, 2025 at about 5:00PM CDT.
- I-35W northbound: Exit ramp closed
At Exit 16B ramp to I-94 E. The exit ramp is closed. Major construction project. Consider using an alternate route. Until August 22, 2025 at about 5:00PM CDT.
- MN 55 in both directions: Roadway reduced to one lane
Between I-35W and East 26th Street (Minneapolis). The roadway is reduced to one lane. Bridge construction work is in progress. Until August 20, 2025 at about 5:00AM CDT
- I-94 in both directions: Roadway reduced to two lanes
Between I-35W and Franklin Avenue (Minneapolis). The roadway is reduced to two lanes. Bridge construction work is in progress. Expect delays. Until October 31, 2025 at about 6:00PM CDT.
- I-94 westbound: Entrance ramp closed
At Entrance ramp from Riverside Ave / 25th Ave. The entrance ramp is closed. Bridge construction work is in progress. Until Monday, at about 5:00PM CDT.
- MN 36 eastbound: Entrance ramp closed
At Entrance ramp from Cleveland Ave S. The entrance ramp is closed because of construction work. A detour is in operation. Please follow the Minnesota DOT-recommended detour around the closure. See map for detour(s). Until July 21, 2025 at about 9:00PM CDT -
MN 100 in both directions: Roadway reduced to one lane
At Exit 3: Vernon Avenue (Edina). The roadway is reduced to one lane. Bridge construction work is in progress. From 6:00PM CDT to 6:00AM CDT daily. Until July 11, 2025 at about 6:00AM CDT. - MN 100 northbound: Roadway reduced to two lanes
Between West 70th Street and Benton Avenue (Edina). The roadway is reduced to two lanes. Look out for construction work. Until today at about 5:00PM CDT.
- MN 62 eastbound: Roadway reduced to two lanes
Between Xerxes Avenue South (Edina) and Penn Avenue South (Richfield). The roadway is reduced to two lanes because of construction work. A detour is in operation. Please follow the Minnesota DOT-recommended detour around the closure. See map for detour(s). Width limit 11’0″. Until August 2, 2025 at about 11:59PM CDT.
- I-494 westbound: Entrance ramp closed
At Entrance ramp from CH 32 / Penn Ave. The entrance ramp is closed. Road construction work is in progress. Please follow the Minnesota DOT-recommended detour around the closure. See map for detour(s). Until August 25, 2025 at about 5:00AM CDT.
- I-494 westbound: Roadway reduced to two lanes
At I-35W (Bloomington). The roadway is reduced to two lanes. Look out for bridge damage. Bridge maintenance work is in progress. There is a weight limit in effect. No vehicles over 155,000 lbs. Until July 31, 2025 at about 5:00PM CDT.
- I-35W northbound: Entrance ramp closed
At Entrance ramp from 82nd St. The entrance ramp is closed. Road construction work is in progress. Until September 13, 2025 at about 6:00AM CDT.
- I-494: Major construction project
Between the start of I-494 (Eagan) and 24th Avenue South (1 mile east of Richfield). Major construction project. Until July 31, 2026 at about 11:59PM CDT.

MN-77 in both directions: Roadway reduced to one laneBetween Co Rd 38 and 138th St W in Apple Valley. The roadway is reduced to one lane due to road construction work. Until July 14, 2025 at about 5:30AM CDT.
