Sensory Break Room

The Sensory Break Room is located in suite 4101 on the 4th floor of the Hyatt Regency, next to the parenting room. With training and support provided by MNeurodivergent, it is the ideal place to take a break with minimal distractions.

If you find yourself in need of a sensory break outside of staffed hours, please see First Advisors to use their sensory spaces.

Sensory Break Room Hours

  • Thursday 4:00pm – 12:00am
  • Friday 12:00pm – 12:00am
  • Saturday 12:00pm – 12:00am
  • Sunday 10:00am – 3:00pm

Hours may be extended earlier and/or later as volunteer staffing is available.

Sensory Break Room Features

Step into a calm, inclusive environment designed by and for neurodivergent individuals. Open to anyone who needs a moment of peace during the convention, the MNeurodivergent Sensory Break Room at CONvergence is a low-stimulation area where attendees can take a break, decompress, and regulate at their own pace. It is a jusgement-free zone meant to support self care and accessibility.

This space features:

  • Soft lighting and reduced noise
  • Comfortable seating options
  • Fidget tools and sensory items
  • Quiet zones for rest and reflection

Volunteers from MNeurodivergent will be on hand to offer information and ensure the space remains safe and respectful for all users.

Whether you’re overstimulated, anxious, or just need a breather, we welcome you to recharge with us.

Expectations

Please respect the following in order to keep the Sensory Break Room as accessible as possible for everyone.

  • Loud activity and other distracting behavior is discouraged.
  • Napping, eating, and drinking beverages other than water are not allowed in the room.
  • Scents such as perfumes and colognes should be washed off before entering the room.

If you need a quiet, controlled space to eat or to take medication, the First Advisors room or The Bridge on the 2nd floor have areas you can use. If you need a quiet, controlled space to feed a child, CONvergence has a Parenting Room located in suite 4102, next door to the Sensory Break Room.
