Martial Arts / Combat Demos and Contests

Several demos and competitions in a variety of martial arts will be held at CONvergence. Come prepared for the following:

Aikido Demo
Sunday Noon - 1:00pm / Garden Court - Southwest

Come see the Shuharikan Aikido dojo present a demonstration of Yoshinkan Aikido. This martial art is required learning for members of the Tokyo riot police and is a practical and powerful defensive art accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Come see how to throw someone twice your size. Come see how to fall and not get hurt. Most importantly, come see how to face the angry hordes without spilling your beer. Organizer: Mark Tempel

Chen Style Tai Chi Presentation
Thursday 1:00pm - 2:00pm / Garden Court - Southwest

A demo featuring a plethora of Chinese weapons forms, empty hand and two person exercises pertaing to Tai Chi. Jose Figueroa is the owner and operator of Dark Raven Studios, a Martial art school in St. Paul, MN. He's also a film producer/action director of Dark Raven Productions, specializing in Hong Kong-style action. Organizer: Jose Figueroa

Friday: Come & join the Assassin’s guild for practice & preparation for the upcoming tournament. Have an evening of fun and good ol’ hitting fun just like when you were a kid. Even if you are not going to be in the Saturday tourney please come and play with us. Ages 14 & up with parental consent.

Saturday: The battle to end all battles! Join us for fame, fun & martial combat. Bring your friends and destroy them with weapons of foam. Spectate or participate for fun & adventure. Ages 14 & up with parental consent.

The Frozen North
