LAN Gaming Needs Your Help!
Attention LAN Gamers: We're experiencing technical difficulties. Up to now, we've had no success locating computers for the LAN Gaming room. The lack of response has also taken its toll on our staff for the room.
CONvergence needs YOU! Like all true superheroes, it's last minute and only you can save us.
- We need people willing to loan us a computer for the weekend (specifications below).
- We need people willing to help staff the room a bit (as little or as much as you want).
- We need people willing to organize an event or two.
Without some help, the LAN Gaming Room isn't likely to happen this year. Sad, but true. And every little bit helps.
Wondering what staffing the room would mean? Here's your answer!
LAN Room Coordinator: Someone who can monitor and maintain the machines, help gamers who ask questions, and make sure that things run smoothly. Can also schedule game events, set up and maintain the network, and handle emergencies. May also need to help us establish a wireless network on 22.
LAN Room Assistant: Someone who can monitor and maintain the machines, help gamers who ask questions, and make sure that things run smoothly.
But how much time are we talking here?
Well, hours of operation are:
Friday, 5pm - 2am (or however late people would be willing to go)
Saturday, 9:30am - 2am (or however late people are willing to go)
Sunday, 9:30am - 5pm.
But you can sign up for even an hour and help us out.
Wondering if your computer has the right stuff? Here are the computer specifications:
Each system should have a bare minimum of 1.5Ghz processor with 128mb video memory. The games to be played should already be installed on the machines with enough harddrive space for them to run well. Also at least 512 Megabytes of RAM.
Monitors should be color and at least 15" (diagonal measurement). Wireless keyboards and optical mice are nice, but anything will do.
Laptops would be fantabulous too (if they meet the above requirements).
