Radisson South Changes to a Sheraton Property

As you may or may not know, the Radisson South and Plaza Tower will soon have new management from the Sheraton Hotel chain. Sometime in March, the official change over will take place, and the logos and signage that have identified this hotel as a Radisson will change to reflect the new banner of Sheraton Hotels.

CONvergence's Facilities Director Ishmael I. Williams has spoken with our contact at the soon-to-be "Sheraton South" and been assured that the only real change is the name under which they will operate. The owners of the hotel will remain the same, and currently the only the General Manager will be different. Beyond that, the Sheraton team has indicated strongly that they will honor all existing contracts. This means, of course, that for the time being, and as far as can be told by Ishmael, CONvergence still has a home in the building located at 7800 Normandale Ave. Our current contract is signed through 2006, and we see no reason at this juncture for that to change. Ishmael spoke with our contact on 1\ 12\2004 and confirmed that the room rate will not go up - it will be the same as in 2003.

As soon as the change is complete, which again is expected to be in March, CONvergence forms will change to reflect the new organization. Look for the Sheraton name to appear on our website, publications, and on the Registration and Hotel room request forms.
