How does Anime make it the screening room at CONvergence?
Our program schedule is set months in advance of the convention. Every program we show has to have screening rights from the distributor. This takes considerable time considering the number of distributors we have to deal with. Program suggestions come from the department head and sub-heads as well as suggestions we receive throughout the year from con-goers. We normally start with a wide list and gradually slim it down based on allotted time, what kind of mix we're looking for, and what else might be going on during the convention at the time. A great deal of time is spent trying to ensure a good mix of programs.

You can email us any time at theaternippon@convergence-con.org. Because of the time it takes to clear screening rights we ask that you get suggestions to us before May.
How likely is it that you'll play my suggestion?
Pretty likely actually. Last year we played 2/3 of the suggestions we received. However, we can't play what you want if you don't tell us, so let us know what you'd like to see!
Can I bring something to the convention to play?
Unfortunately, no. Everything we screen must have rights. We are not allowed to play programs we don't have rights to.
Can you play fan subs and fan dubs?
Generally speaking, no. A distributor would be likely to consider it an infringement on their copyright.
