Publications

The Publications Division creates a number of individual publications for the convention, including Progress Reports, The Souvenir Book, The Programming Guide and Programming Grid. Publications also creates forms and mailings for the convention, as well as graphics and signage used by different convention departments. Artwork in CONvergence Publications

Most CONvergence Artwork features our mascot Connie, and is drawn by Connie's creator Christopher Jones. Artwork has also been provided by Louis Frank and others over the years, including contributions by Guests of Honor John Kovalic, Andrew Probert, and Ruth Thompson.

We are always open to submissions of artwork for our publications. Artwork should be line art or grayscale, as it would most likely be used in a black-and-white publication. Artwork should be family friendly - "PG" content only, no "R" rated or adult content.

Artwork is NOT required to feature Connie. We like to have CONvergence artwork (like our programming) to reflect the broad spectrum of genres and medium that CONvergence encompasses. We are especially interested in artwork that ties in to our annual convention theme. Every piece of artwork does not need to be a joke or a gag, but we prefer artwork that does something clever in it's presentation beyond simply being portraiture, or being of the "clip art" variety featuring space-ships and dragons.

We do NOT pay for artwork, but if we use your art we will credit the artist appropriately. DO NOT send original artwork to CONvergence. Send a scan or digital art file to publications@convergence-con.org.

Advertising in CONvergence Publications

CONvergence accepts advertising for our convention Souvenir Book, which is given to every attending member at CONvergence. The deadline to submit ads is May 15 of the convention year. The Advertising Department is organized under the Marketing Division, rather than the Publications division, but the two work closely together.

CONvergence has an annual attendance of over 2,700 and that's a huge advertising opportunity for businesses or other organizations with a target market in science fiction fandom.

Our advertising rates are affordable for anyone from businesses to fan groups with an interest in reaching the audience of CONvergence members. Even a dealer already planning to have space at CONvergence would find it worthwhile to make sure CONvergence attendees take home an advertisement and contact information for their business.

Advertising Rates

Please note, we have both PRO rates and FAN rates. PRO rates apply to any for-profit business or money-making venture. FAN rates apply to fan groups and individuals who are not advertising for business purposes. If you aren't sure which category you fit into, contact us at advertising@convergence-con.org.

Format Requirements

The CONvergence Souvenir Book is printed in black & white, not color, so all ads should be line art or grayscale, and a resolution of 300 DPI is strongly recommended.

Ads may be submitted as camera ready art or as a Quark document, or as a TIFF or PDF file. If you need to submit your ad in a different format, please let us know as early as possible to allow time for any special arrangements needed to accomodate you.

If you are submitting your ad in a digital format that is not a bitmap graphic, we ask that you include any fonts used in the ad and that you fax or mail us a hardcopy for reference purposes.
