Programming
CONvergence programming promises panels and events related to Science Fiction and Fantasy. There will be discussions with our guests of honor, discussions related to our theme, and ones that discuss many other topics as well.
All panels for the convention are now scheduled! We have a few panels that could still use another panelist or two but not many. Look for an e-mail from the Programming department highlighting panels that could still use support.
Exciting news - a new era in CONvergence scheduling!
The CONvergence Programming Schedule will be on line at http://schedule.convergence-con.org.You can search and select by time, location, and panelists, and create your own personalized schedule. We will also be implementing ways to organize the programming schedule, for example: Tagging panels that are especially appropriate for teens or are theme related.
You can find more than just panels - we'll list events from many areas, like MainStage, or Connie's Quantum Sandbox and the hours of operation for the Art Show, Registration, and Dealer's Room.
How could this possibly be more useful? You can download the content to anything that supports iCal (Outlook, Google Calendar, and Apple's iCal) -- and also view it on an iPhone.
Visit http://schedule.convergence-con.org now and start planning your convention. Please note, the schedule is NOT final and will continue to be revised until the final weeks and days before the convention. Many of the panels listed may be cut if not enough panelists sign up for them, so support the programming you want to see!
Have an idea for a panel you'd like to see?
We'd love to hear about it. But it takes more than an idea to bring a panel to life. It takes people to sit that panel, and we don't conjure them out of thin air. It takes volunteers.
Want to be on a panel?
Not everyone who sits on a panel has to have "expert" credentials. If you have an opinion on something and like to talk to other people about it, you're qualified to be a convention panelist! If you would like to be on a panel, be sure to drop us an e-mail at programming@convergence-con.org. Remember, you don't have to be an 'expert' to be on a panel, you just need an opinion!
Format
CONvergence programming features 60-minute panels on a 90-minute schedule: 60-minute panels with 30-minute breaks in-between. We divide our programming into tracks by media or subject.
The Dorian Gray Memorial Literary Lounge
This year CONvergence is proud to present a formal literary lounge up on the 22nd floor. This space is intended to give local authors, guests of honor, and others an intimate setting, off-the-beaten-track for quiet readings, workshops, and discussions. We may try our hand at a few poetry slams (or fiction slams) as well as the opportunity to meet with authors who are willing to share their stories and ideas in a refined atmosphere. You can read more about the lounge here.
